A cyclonic wellhead desander is a high-pressure solids-separation device designed to remove sand and other solid particles from well effluent (oil, gas, and water) immediately downstream of the wellhead. It uses a centrifugal (cyclonic) separation principle: the multiphase flow enters tangentially into a specially shaped vessel, creating a high-velocity spiral motion. The resulting centrifugal forces drive the denser solid particles outward toward the vessel wall, where they lose momentum, fall into a solids collection chamber (pot), and are periodically removed.
The cleaned fluids exit through the top outlet of the unit. This 10K version is designed for high-pressure well operations up to 10,000 psi (690 bar) and is commonly used in well testing, clean-up, flowback, and production protection to prevent abrasive solids from damaging downstream equipment (chokes, separators, flowlines, valves)..
