Applications

Magnesium chloride is used in drilling fluids, specialized water-based systems to inhibit shale swelling and control hydration. It acts as a highly soluble, environmentally acceptable, and cost-effective alternative to potassium chloride. Often used in applications to drill through complex salt formations with interbedded clay/shale sensitive formations.
