A complete range of low-profile hydraulic torque wrench links and a high-pressure power unit, ATEX certified for hazardous areas, is now available for international rental from our operations base in Ortona, Italy.
A flange make-up is only as good as the torque applied to it. Repeatable, controlled, certified torque is what separates a leak-free joint from a costly intervention, and on Oil & Gas projects the consequences of a single under-torqued bolt can scale from a minor leak to a full shutdown.
With this in mind, G&G DESMAC has expanded its rental inventory with a complete fleet of SPX FLOW hydraulic torque wrench links, sized to cover the full spectrum of bolting operations from light-duty service work to the most demanding high-pressure flange make-up. All units are tested, certified, and ready for immediate mobilisation to our international project locations.
A complete range, from light to heavy duty
We deliberately invested in the full size range, so that a single supplier can cover any bolting requirement a client may present, on any job site we deploy to. The new fleet includes five wrench models, all built on the same ultra-compact low-profile radial design that allows torque to be applied in restricted-clearance areas where conventional tooling does not fit.
Model | Hex size (in / mm) | Min torque (Nm) | Max torque (Nm) | Weight |
TWL 2 | 1-1/4″ to 2-3/8″ (32-60) | 256 | 2,134 | 2.8 kg |
TWL 4 | 1-1/2″ to 3-1/8″ (40-80) | 647 | 5,387 | 5.7 kg |
TWL 8 | 2-1/4″ to 3-7/8″ (60-100) | 1,293 | 10,777 | 10.4 kg |
TWL 15 | 2-9/16″ to 4-5/8″ (65-120) | 2,416 | 20,134 | 16.9 kg |
TWL 30 | 3-1/8″ to 6-1/8″ (80-155) | 4,686 | 39,043 | 35.0 kg |
The full set covers a torque range from approximately 250 Nm up to 39,000 Nm, which means a single fleet can address everything from auxiliary service connections to large-diameter wellhead and pipeline flanges. A pre-calibrated torque-to-pressure chart is supplied for each model, so operators can set the hydraulic power unit precisely to the required torque value.
Bolting tools deployed on offshore platforms, refineries and petrochemical sites work inside classified hazardous areas, where Zone 2 ATEX certification is a non-negotiable requirement. The new fleet meets this standard end to end.
- Ultra-compact radial design for limited-access applications (flanges in tight clearance, wellhead components, manifold valves)
- High-strength alloy steel construction, designed for heavy-duty repeat service
- Optimised load distribution to minimise fastener stress and protect joint integrity
- 360° swivel hydraulic couplers for improved handling and faster set-up
- Corrosion-resistant coating suitable for offshore marine environments
- Compatible with industry-standard hydraulic power units (700 bar / 10,000 psi)
Powered by a certified hydraulic power unit
The wrench fleet is paired with an SPX Hydraulic Technologies RWP55 Series hydraulic power unit, designed and certified specifically for use in Oil & Gas hazardous-area applications.
- Maximum working pressure: 700 bar (10,000 psi)
- Flow rate: 8.2 L/min at 35 bar; 0.82 L/min at 690 bar (high-pressure stage)
- Operating ambient temperature range: -25°C to +50°C
- CE Marked, UKCA Marked, ATEX certified (II 2 GD c T6, IIIB T6 Gb, IIIB 100°C Db)
- Pneumatically driven, suitable for use where electrical supply is not permitted
The power unit’s certification envelope matches the wrenches, allowing the complete bolting package to be deployed inside Zone 2 classified areas without compromise.
Where these wrenches go to work
The new bolting fleet supports a wide range of Oil & Gas operations, on and offshore:
- Wellhead and Christmas tree assembly and maintenance
- Choke and kill manifold flange make-up, in line with our well control rental offering
- Pressure vessel and heat exchanger maintenance during shutdowns
- Pipeline flange make-up and tie-in operations
- Compressor and pump skid maintenance on FPSOs and onshore process facilities
- Refinery and petrochemical plant turnarounds, where Zone 2 classification applies
A strategic addition to our equipment offering
The wrench fleet complements our existing well control and pressure equipment portfolio, including choke manifolds, high-pressure flexible hoses, and the recently added DNV ATEX workshop container. Investing in the full size range, rather than a single working model, reflects a deliberate choice: we want to be able to answer a client’s bolting requirement with the correct tool for the job, not the closest available one.
All units are fully tested, calibration-traceable, and ready for international mobilisation from our Ortona base. Technical Data Sheets and the full torque-to-pressure tables for each model are available on request.
The new units are now part of our active inventory and available for upcoming operations.
